Aloe marlothii is one of the characteristic aloe species of the Sekhukhune Mountain Bushveld area where the De Hoop Dam is positioned on the Steelpoort River.
The plant is, of course found in a much wider part of South Africa, its habitat ranging from North West, Limpopo, Gauteng to Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, where A. spectabilis is these days incorporated within the definition of the A. marlothii species (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Jeppe, 1969).
